Americas adopt a food safety strategy focused on prevention
PAHO’s 30 September strategy covers surveillance, laboratory capacity and cooperation. It is a regional policy, not an Indian rule.
Health authorities in the Americas approved a new regional food safety strategy on 30 September. Its emphasis is preventing problems across the food chain.
What the strategy covers
PAHO says the 2026 to 2031 plan will strengthen national systems, make risk analysis more routine and improve regional cooperation. Laboratory services, surveillance and traceability are part of that work.
This is a strategy for the Americas. Its regional disease figures and policy measures should not be presented as Indian data or Indian legal requirements.

Why we are covering it
Ingredient reading answers only part of a shopper’s question. It cannot establish whether a batch was stored correctly or tested for a particular contaminant. Our guide explains which evidence belongs to a formula, a tested sample or the pack in your hand.
